A monitoring visit is a scheduled review of a site by the sponsor's monitor. The main types are the site selection visit before the site is chosen, the initiation visit before it starts recruiting, interim visits during the trial, and the close-out visit at the end. Every visit produces a written report and a follow-up letter listing actions.
