Interim analysis
In Trial design & structure
An interim analysis is a planned look at trial data before recruitment and follow-up are complete. It is normally done by an independent statistician and reviewed by a data monitoring committee, so the trial team stays blinded. It can lead to stopping early for harm, for clear benefit, or for futility.
