Electronic trial master file (eTMF)

An electronic trial master file is a trial master file held in a validated electronic system. It supports controlled access, version history, and an audit trail, and lets sponsors and sites file documents from anywhere. Many organizations organize it against an industry reference structure so documents are always in a predictable place.
Example
A country manager uploads a newly signed clinical trial agreement to the eTMF, where it is filed automatically under the right zone and version-controlled.
