Edit check

    In Data & data management

    Also known as: validation check

An edit check is a rule programmed into the data system that flags a value which looks wrong. Checks catch missing fields, impossible values, dates in the wrong order, and results inconsistent with each other. They are the first line of data cleaning, and they generate most of the queries a site sees.
