Confidentiality in a trial means that a participant's identity and personal health information are protected and only shared with people who need them. Trial records normally identify participants by a code rather than a name, and the key linking code to person stays at the site. Data-protection law — such as GDPR in Europe or HIPAA in the United States — applies on top of GCP.
