Adherence

    Also known as: compliance

Adherence is how closely a participant follows the treatment regimen and the study requirements. It is commonly measured by counting returned tablets, by electronic dosing records, or by diaries. Poor adherence can dilute a real treatment effect, so it is monitored and reported rather than simply hoped for.
