Dechallenge and rechallenge
In Safety & pharmacovigilance
Dechallenge is what happens to a reaction when the suspected treatment is stopped or reduced; rechallenge is what happens if it is restarted. Improvement on dechallenge and recurrence on rechallenge strengthen the case that the treatment caused the event. Rechallenge is often not done deliberately, because it can be unsafe.
